Turnout – have you wormed your cattle?

With good weather forecast next week and grass starting to grow, more cattle will be turned out to grass. It’s important to think about worm control. Calves and young cattle in their first grazing season lack immunity to gut worms, meaning that they are at greater risk of parasitic gastroenteritus from a high gutworm challenge. Even a moderate worm challenge can reduce feed intake and utilisation, resulting in a failure to meet average liveweight targets, impaired fertility, and reduced lifetime productivity.
