PJL CALVES
PJL have a procurement system in place to supply young calves. The system is based on selecting good quality calves of the right type and conformation to produce high quality cattle.
The calves are sourced from a network of regular farm suppliers in the North West of England. Calves can also be sourced from TB4 areas and from markets if larger numbers are required.
Quality and health status are key to our system and our handling arrangements mean that calves arrive ‘stress free’. We only source calves from farms that undertake robust colostrum protocols. All calves supplied are screened for BVD using the IDEXX system.
Calves are selected to meet buyers requirements. Some buyers prefer a ‘big strong top of the range’ calf, others want a smaller ‘good conformation’ calf. We select level groups of calves to suit buyers requirements and systems.
